Can I learn to play any kind of guitar on Optimum Guitar School Online?
The courses on Optimum Guitar School Online are primarily intended for learning acoustic guitar. Acoustic guitars are guitars with a hollow body that don't have a built-in microphone. The sound is produced solely by the vibrations of the instrument and projected through the sound hole in the top of the guitar. An electric guitar has a solid body and relies on electronic amplification when producing the sound. There are also electro-acoustic guitars that still have a hollow body but also built-in microphones.
There are basically two types of acoustic guitar, nylon string and steel string guitars. For a beginner on guitar, especially a child, I would recommend a nylon string guitar. The strings feel softer and it's easier both to strum and pick the strings with your right hand and to press them with your left hand. However, if you already have a steel string acoustic or electro-acoustic guitar, or if you are particularly fond of the sound of steel string guitars and want to buy one, no problem, the courses on Optimum Guitar School Online work fine on steel string guitars too.
For children I recommend a half or three quarter sized guitar depending on the child's size. Most important is that anyone who learns guitar feels comfortable with her/his guitar. Both with the size and the "feel" of it. If you are about to buy a guitar I recommend that you go to a music store and try a few different guitars, even if you don't intend to buy it there. Maybe it doesn't make it an easier decision, but an informed one at least.
Can I learn guitar on Optimum Guitar School Online as an adult?/Can I learn guitar on Optimum Guitar School Online as a child?
Yes! The courses on Optimum Guitar School Online are intended for all ages. The lessons are age neutral and I have taught people of all ages playing guitar with the material used on Optimum Guitar School Online. To do the first course the student needs to be able to press the strings in the frets on the fingerboard with the left hand. Children who can hold the guitar and reach around it but still can't press the strings can start with the Children's course as a preparation for the the first course. There the child learns by playing the bass notes on open strings to some common children's songs. The songs are in Swedish but the child can play along without knowing any Swedish or having heard the songs before. The child then learns the first strings and notes on the guitar and to play rythmically along with the music. They also learn how to play with the thumb, a skill they will need in the first course once they start with that.
Can I still learn guitar on Optimum Guitar School Online if I am left handed.
Yes, you are welcome to take the courses at Optimum Guitar School Online as a left handed! If you have never touched a guitar I recommend that you start learning on a normal stringed guitar, holding the guitar the conventional way, with the fretboard pointing to your right. You are going to use both your hands anyway, and often times you benefit from having your strongest hand taking care of the fretboard. If you already have been playing some guitar with left handed grip, and are already used to that, you can keep playing like that and take the courses on Optimum Guitar School Online, welcome!
